Creek Clean Up

The Fairfax Volunteers held our annual Creek Cleanup on Sunday October 14, 2007. This year, our teams cleaned the Cascade and Fairfax creeks. Folks met at 9:30 for drinks and light refreshments at the Community Center, and then well, played in the water until well after 1:00!

The 2007 Crew

Who’d have thought pulling junk from the creek could be so much fun? Each, fall, we orchestrate a cleanup to ensure our creeks flow unobstructed through the winter rainy season and to improve wildlife habitat. For the past five years we've then constructed a temporary sculpture with the debris in town to raise awareness of how much reuse finds its way into our watershed. In addition to learning about creek ecology, our Creek Cleanup is also a great way to meet your neighbors!
